Redesign or streamline an existing feature of a widely-used web or mobile app in order to make it more accessible to a broader audience.


Motivation

Background

Ecotime is a web-based time and attendance management system that serves as the main campus payroll timekeeping system for hundreds of UC San Diego employees. Aretha and Ashley, who are part of our team, also use Ecotime regularly in their on-campus part-time jobs.

Emerging Problem

Created by Huntington Business Systems, Ecotime claims to be a product that is designed to “provide the greatest functionality, performance, and flexibility in the industry”. However the experiences my peer have had with Ecotime say otherwise. The interface looks outdated and the web’s navigation is complicated, hindering daily employee tasks. We really wanted to improve the user experience on Ecotime.

Thus, we asked:
